Project 52 - Week 27:Bokeh
Bokeh is defined as “the effect of a soft out-of-focus background that you get when shooting a subject, using a fast lens. Bokeh is the pleasing or aesthetic quality of out-of-focus blur in a photograph. For those wondering... Bokeh is pronounced BOH-Kə or BOH-kay. I had some grand plans for this one over the weekend, unfortunately the weather put paid to it all. It rained solidly the entire weekend plus a day or two after! Juggling a full time job as well means that my theme photos HAVE to be done on the weekend. Wintertime here means essentially going to work in the dark and, you guessed it, arriving home in darkness too! Leaving little time for anything photography related.
Thems the breaks sometimes....
I did however see a gap when I popped home late morning to see Saffy. This time of the day is not my favourite- in fact I normally wouldn't bother even opening my camera bag ... but we were in luck! It was overcast!
Now- Saffy is a very good model- but she has one "thing" She has a maximum distance I am allowed to step back. Exceed that distance, and she slowly creeps forward until her nose is stuffed inside the lens hood with the "is there a snack in there?" face.
This was an issue, as I needed a certain amount of space between her and I, and also between her and the background to get that Bokeh this lens is so well known for. Challenge accepted with 10 minutes left and counting of "lunchbreak" ..
As luck would have it- two cats decided to kick it up a notch and have a very noisy confrontation out the front gate. Nothing will get Saf's attn faster! (Except perhaps the fridge door opening.)
The amount of distance in this one was totally different giving quite a different effect.
Pesky cats- still at it...
If I just take one step more she will never ever know.......and I will be one step closer to the snacks!
For those that follow us on Facebook and Instagram, you will all remember seeing the post about birthday ideas! Thanks to everyone who commented! So, we are going to do all of the things(Not joking). I will keep you all posted on it as birthday celebrations have already started (No time like the present especially when they are her age!)
First on the list was a leave form for work- yes we are having a long weekend to celebrate! Secondly.....she got her very own heated blanket. This past week has been bitterly cold and she has looked pretty dreadful- nobody likes to hear "there's nothing more we can do for her"- but that's where we are at unfortunately(another reason to start the celebrations asap!) She spent the day on her blankie yesterday and loves it! Her movement is considerably better for it. For those like me that have an older pooch it is well worth the investment!
