Project 52 - Week 30:Shadows
What immediately springs to mind for you when you hear the word shadow? Dark and unknown? Negative emotion? For me, shadows are equally as important as light, for without the shadow everything would be flat and lifeless. Like all things in life, there is a natural balance, polar opposites that offset each other. Good/bad. Light/dark (in this case shadow) Up/down..and so on and so on.
Bit like life huh?
In keeping with the theme I had a very simple idea in mind, which turned out to be not quite as simple as I thought it would be.
Life has presented some challenges around me lately and I felt drawn to this idea for a multitude of reasons. I wanted to reverse the way we perceive our shadow. For sometimes, in the shadows there is a version of us just waiting to be unleashed.
This quote by Anaïs Nin I think sums this image up perfectly
“Wherever there is light, look for the shadow. The shadow is me.”
There is tremendous courage in taking a leap of faith into the unknown. Just like this little kitten I had the pleasure of meeting. This was his first time experiencing a ball of yarn, his first time playing with feathers, his first time feeling this fabric under his little teency toes. This little guy didn't hesitate once his decision was made. The inner lion in him took over and he rocked it(whats more he did it with a smile on his face!). We could all learn a thing or two from him. Whats hiding in your shadow?
